For the first time in the Bay Area, the Green Festival opened its doors April 10 and 11 for a springtime show in honor of Earth Day’s 40th anniversary. Our employees from several departments work at our Green Festival booth, where we offer a large selection of our books for 50 percent off the cover price. It’s a nice way for us to get up close and personal with the people who love our books. We were excited to meet all of you and thank you for your great conversations and, as always, for your patronage. If you didn’t get a chance to see us this time, you’ll have another opportunity at the fall Green Festival on November 5, 6, and 7.
The hottest seller at our booth this time around was Clutter Busting by Brooks Palmer — perhaps everyone is in spring-cleaning mode, or maybe in these tough economic times people are feeling inclined to pass on to others the things they no longer need. Folks also seemed very interested in Hard Times Require Furious Dancing, the forthcoming book of poems by Alice Walker that we’ll be publishing in November. Alice spoke at the festival on Sunday afternoon to pay tribute to the late Howard Zinn.
It’s always inspiring to be in the company of people connecting with each other and showcasing innovative products and services to help lessen our toll on the earth. We leave you with an image of our booth, staffed by Senior Editor Jason Gardner. He’ll be excited to talk to you at the November festival about our newest green book, Twelve by Twelve: A One-Room Cabin Off the Grid and Beyond the American Dream.
